by the way...

I'm permanently abandoning xanga for livejournal. I'm only keeping my account to keep up with other people's blogs, but I won't be posting here anymore. not sure if that was clear in the last entry...

so if you have livejournal, add me. if not, *tear*

Bard is going to have an online registration option for next semester. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE PLACE I THOUGHT I KNEW?! no more dressing in tennis shoes and comfortable clothes to prepare for the mighty sprint up the hill, no more yelling and waving registration forms in your professor's face, no more angry competitive students fighting over film classes....

wait a minute. this could rock.

"I wish they all could be spree girls." - compliments of this addictive slogan generator rebecca showed me. http://www.thesurrealist.co.uk/slogan.cgi?word=spree

Speaking of the Spree... EXCITING NEWS! i really hope this works out, or I will be horribly  disappointed.... anyway, the polyphonic spree is having their annual christmas extravaganza (usually somewhere in dallas) in december. I didn't think i'd be able to go because I assumed it would be the week before i got out of school.... BUT IT'S THE SATURDAY AFTER CLASSES END! which means I can go! wooooooo that would so rock. even if I get in late on friday and have to drive up to dallas, I don't even care. It would be awesome if I could just fly in to dallas and stay with rebecca, but who knows if she'll even be there, and I have to buy plane tickets super early, probably before I know for sure what is going on with the show.

But none of that matters. What matters is that I might get to see the spree LIVE at a CHRISTMAS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woot.

Warning.... this entry will be lengthy. read at your own risk.

So this weekend totally made up for my less than exciting fall break! I just got back from the Hot Hot Heat/Weezer/Foo Fighters concert in boston. We drove down friday and stayed at rachel's house. Saturday, our plan was to go into boston since neither kelly or i had ever been.  It was great except for the pouring rain (like EVERY OTHER day for the past week ) We went to harvard square and faneuil hall, and walked around by the harbor a bit.

I was absolutely SOAKED by the time we got back to her house. But then we had some time to dry off and headed to worcester for the concert! yay! we only waited in line for like 20 minutes outside, then went in to claim our spots (we had GA floor tickets.) We actually got really close to the front, I was pretty much in the 2nd row, which was easy becasue there weren't too many people there for the first band.

First was Hot Hot Heat - I didn't know much of their music beforehand, but they were fun live. The lead singer was awesome, he had an amazing stage presence and really interacted with the audience a lot. And a great voice too.

Then came what I was really there for - WEEZER. I actually managed to get in front for this one just by asking the guy in front of me if I could move up to the gate. He was nice about it, plus that also meant I would have someone between me and the scary drunk guy... more about him later. So I was worried that weezer might not be too great, especially since I'm not a huge fan of the new stuff, but I was totally wrong. They opened with My Name Is Jonas  and did pretty much every one of my favorite songs. Rachel even got to hear El Scorcho, which she loves but didn't think they would do, Say It Ain't So was absolutely amazing, and they ended with Buddy Holly (the first weezer song I ever heard and the one that got me hooked.) They even covered two songs - one Blur, one Foo Fighters. All of them were so cool and energized, and really looked like they were having fun.

Then (after kind of a long wait) was Foo Fighters! By that point I was pretty much fulfilled, I like Foo Fighters (who doesn't) but I'm much more of a Weezer fan. I could have stayed in the front, but gave up my spot to the 10 year old boy behind me. It was partly so he could see since I didn't really care, and partly because the weird drunk guy had managed to get up next to me and I wanted to get away from him. This guy was a creep. I mean, usually I don't mind drunk people at concerts, but he freaked me out. Apparently he was grabbing everyone (lucklily all I got was a pat on the head) but I really got weirded out when he started petting the 10 year old boy (who he didn't know) on the head. He just made everyone feel really uncomfortable. Even when some people left and there was room up front, no one wanted to move closer because we were avoiding him.

So aside from that, Foo was really fun - so crazy and energetic. They had a lot of fun lasers/video/cool lighting. They ended with Monkeywrench, which made Kelly amazingly happy. Overall, lots of jumping and screaming and dancing, always a good time. I love the feeling of being so close to the music- where you can feel all the vibrations, and it totally blasts out your ears. WOO!

So yeah, it was a great weekend. Glad it worked out.

Oh, and I now sort of have 3 blogs - this, myspace, and livejournal. I'm in the middle of deciding which I'm actually going to use, so for a little bit I'll probably be posting the same stuff on all 3. I'll let you guys know what I end up doing, if anyone reads this thing anyway.
